The system allows to change the base layer for the map, including background images loaded by the system and WMS servers.
The background images are available in the menu on the top-right.
Different type of base layers are available:
The Bing and Open Street Maps layers can be used as a base layer.

Web Map Service (WMS) is a standard protocol used to server georeferenced map images over the Internet.
These images are typically available from national services offering, aerial images, geological information, etc. For data example see the "Thematic External Layers" section below.
In the WMS section, Sentinel 2 satellite images are available. Further will be made available in the next ForestHQ releases.
Connection with WMS Services is available as a service. To add your national or local WMS connection, please contact suppot@treeemtrics.com.
Aerial images and other remote sensing data can be uploaded to the system, including satellite images, aerial images, UAV images, DSM, DTM, etc.)
To upload your aerial images, please contact support@treemetrics.com to get further guidance on this matter.

ForestHQ supports thematic layers such as watercourses, roads, environmental features, hazards, etc.
In the next version of ForestHQ this section will be developed further to support the creation of layers by the user. Currently, the thematic layers can be added to ForestHQ only as a service.
An example of the implementation of the thematic layer are the Irish public layers from the forestry department platform (IFORIS)
This dataset include attribute and spatial information relating hydrology, national parks,
This system aims to be accessible to all stakeholders around the world, focusing on communities, forest owners, and other stakeholders that are currently lacking access to technology.
