ForestHQ facilitates the remote monitoring of the harvesting operations.
The production data recorded by the harvester machine is analysed and displayed online.
Follow the steps below to set up and monitor your harvesting operations.
The video tutorial on the right side, hows to manage several harvesting operations after the steps below are completed
Before start, you would need to create a Forest Property, if you have not done this before.
There are different ways of creating or importing a Forest Property.
Step 1
Within the Forest project, the activities options are placed on the left side panel.
To create an operation, select the "Activities" tab and select "New Activity"
Step 2
To successfully create an operation, the user must fill out all of the required fields:
Name: Unique name or ID for the Activity that shall be used for identification.
Category: Select one of the harvesting activities from the given list.
After the operation has been created, follow the workflow defined on the right-side panel to get measurement analysis and forest valuations.
All the measurement and valuation activities have the following steps:
Forest Boundaries already defined in step 1
Activity Boundaries already defined in step 2
Productive area and Inventory/targets (optional)
Set up a Machine & Upload Harvester Files
Harvesting Production results
You can also create several activities at once listing them in a XLS file and using the import tool. Learn more
ForestHQ has tools to compare the inventory results with the harvesting production. For this tool to work, the user needs to introduce field measurements or import inventory result data.
To collect measurement data 3 methods are available. These methods are widely explained in the 2. MEASUREMENT AND VALUATION section.
The import tool can also be used to import inventory data that has been previously measured:
If you have inventory data, check your "Productive zones" to have a more accurate result.
The forest stand can be subdivided with the help of the background imagery to improve the inventory results.
Productivity Zones are usually defined as areas of the forest with similar characteristics (same spices and plant year, similar production, etc.)
Areas without trees, such as roads, streams, and other clearings can also be removed.
The background images can be used to map the different areas. You can learn more about the background images in section 1.4.1 Background Images
To start editing click on the edit tool (pencil icon) in the Producitiy Zones layer.
To proceed the user should draw a polygon using the "add new polygon" icon in the editing bar.
Draw the polygon where you want to create the new strata and follow the instructions
Before adding harvesting information, a harvester machine should be created in ForestHQ.
What this video tutorial to learn how to create harvester machine.
Configure the Machine Files Generation
The machines generate a set of files that ForestHQ can use to get information regarding production, operation performance, etc.
To get more familiar with those files and where these files can be configured, follow the link below.
The user can upload harvester files to ForestHQ using the online web portal or via HarvestSync, a mobile application to synchronise harvester files automatically with ForestHQ
Upload files directly in ForestHQ using your PC or laptop
Operator Mobile Browser
Upload files directly in ForestHQ using your mobile phone browser
Synchronize the harvester machine with ForestHQ using HarvestSync mobile app.
After loading the harvester files (PRI and HPR), an iterative dashboard is available to monitor and inspect the results.
