FOREST MEASUREMENT AND VALUATION

2.3.2 TM Field Forest results

ForestHQ generates accessible online interactive reports, including tables, charts and distribution maps for the main forestry variables. The data can be visualised at tree level and results can be extrapolated to forest level. The system automatically recalculates inventory results as the canopy area is modified using the online GIS.

Watch this video tutorial to learn how results are generated and displayed.

The inventory information using the ForestHQ inventory app. is shown in the panel on the right-hand, where both maps and tabular reports can be found.

Measurements table

After performing an inventory, the user can access the data collected displayed in a tabular format.

On the left side, the user can inspect different levels: Block, Strata, and Plot level.

DOWNLOAD/UPLOAD MEASUREMENTS

The system is able to download and upload Measurements in .tsv format.

This is a text (txt) file and could be opened with a normal Notebook. To can work easilily with this information the user can open an excel and drag the downloaded file to the excel and directly the file is going to be open in an excel, being easier working with the data.

To upload data, the user has to Choose the file and once that file has been choosen the user has to press the "Add File" button to upload it to the system.

Plots

Plots can be added to created predefined sample locations. These plots can be download in the ForestHQ mobile application.

The selection of plots in each Productive Zone ensures a good presentation of the stand and will provide more accurate results.

The number of plots per Productive Zone can be related to the area of the Productive Zone (for example a minimum of 1 plot per hectares, with a minimum of 2 plots per Productive Zone)

Add Plot tool. Add a plot by simply clicking on the location. Click the save button to save all the added plots

Delete Plot tool. Delete plots by simply clicking on the plot you would like to delete. Once highlighting selected plot/plots or by click and dragging over an area to select multiple plots. Click the save button to complete the deleting process.

Move Plot Tool. Move plots by simply clicking and holding on the plot you would like to move and dragging it to a new location

Trees

The trees measured using the Treemetrics Forest field inventory app can be displayed in the system. Single-tree models are created to estimate the main tree variables such as DBH, height, species, and tree volume.

Note that trees are only visible if their locations are within the productive zones boundaries. If you have collected trees outside of the productive zones boundaries, you would need to modify the boundaries to see the trees.

Tree Report

Report option creates a Trees Map printout. Separate maps are displayed in the report, including DBH, Height, Volume, and Species

Trees Download

The system is able to download trees in 2 diferent formats: .csv and .shp

Apart from the trees collected in the field using the app, it is also possible to import inventory trees using the import tool. Tree's imported through import tool also appears on that map.

Distribution maps

After the data is uploaded from the TM Field app, heatmaps with the mian forestry variables are automatically generated.

The maps can be visualised for each species and parameter:

          • Select Species: The user can select a specific species or a combination of all species.

    • Select Source: The user can select the parameter to be displayed in the distribution map, including DBH, Volume/ha, Top Height, Mean Volume, or Stocking.
